One More Thing...

Check out the Agenda on this page...

YOU HAVE A TEST THE DAY BEFORE PROJECTS ARE DUE!!

Be sure to pace yourself accordingly!

Re-test, Next Step, CIty Planning, and More...

Don't forget.... Friday Morning Tutorial! Re-Test on the multiple choice for the chapter 2 test!

So... what else is new in Geometry??
1. We've started chapter 3 on parallel and perpendicular lines...

2. Some of you will be seeing me for one- on- one test corrections this week. SCHEDULE A TIME WITH ME if you're one of these people!!

3. Some of you are trying our my new system called "Next Step." You'll have different homework than others about twice a week-- you'll do half of the regular homework, and half "challenge problems" that I've selected. I'll try to be sure that once weekly you're able to work together on the Challenge Problems. If you're a "Next Step" person, don't get distressed if the work is harder-- just give it your best shot and have fun. :)

4. The City Planning project is underway!! CLICK THE LINK IN THE COLUMN TO THE RIGHT TO GO TO THE ASSIGNMENT SHEET. I'm re-working the grading sheet just a bit and will hand a new one out soon.
BE SURE TO GET YOUR BLUEPRINT CHECKED BY MONDAY AT THE LATEST... and DON'T START CONSTRUCTION TILL YOU'VE HAD IT APPROVED BY ME!!!

The powerpoints for the last part of the chapter are here:

The Geometry blog fell behind just after Parent Night at TES. I'm sorry it wasn't up to date!

Here's the most recent schedule. We have a test FRIDAY, and review THURSDAY.

At tutorial time on Thursday and Friday, Geometry will get priority in order to get you ready for the test. I am here by 8:00 each morning, and at 7:50 on Wednesday and Friday mornings.

Next week, we start our first project-- City Planning. It's a fun one!

First Week Information

Y'all ready?? First week of school starts in 2 days!
I'm attaching some useful links to the blog. You;ll see them on the right-hand side of the blog under Useful Geometry Links. One is my weekly schedule at TES, so you'll know when you can find me. The other is the Welcome to Geometry handout you'll get on the first day of class.

See the calendar on the right side? Our class calendar is set through September 10. As we go, I'll post the homework assignments too, so you can pull them up if you miss class.

See you Tuesday!

THIS IS A TEST.

Since one mission of this blog is to keep Geometry students informed about what we're doing in class, it sure would be great if I could post our class power points on the blog. That way if you miss class, all you have to do is boot up and come to the blog to find out what we did today. But there's no way to do that.

Or is there??????

Say it with me: ooooooOOOOOOOooooooohhhhh!!!

Cool.

Well... not perfect though. A lot of the layering and animations don't transfer perfectly to Google Docs-- so you're still way better off bing in class. But it certainly is a help.

Another way to get there: I can give you a link to the web address. This one-- what we're doing day one-- is at http://docs.google.com/present/view?id=dcb8f9w3_1fxxxk4g3.

Welcome to Geometry!

It's summer here at The Elon School, and there's plenty of time remaining till Geometry gets started... but I'm busily getting the year's schedule ready for when we start August 18th. Can you believe summer is already half way over??
Unbelieveable.

I spent a week of the early summer working with Tori Delaney to turn the Geo classroom into The Jungle Room. It's a super space for us to work in now. Thanks, Tori!

For you to know before school starts: Our textbook is Glencoe/ McGraw-Hill Geometry-- the same book as last year. Plenty of used copies are available out there; just find a prior student and inquire about purchasing their copy.

There also is a study guide (with a similar cover to the one above) that is required. It's fantastic! Much of our homework will be from the study guide. It costs less than $10 new, so you won't break your piggy bank with this one.

Just before school starts, I'll post the schedule for the first chapter. .. but anyone who wants to get ahead (hint, hint...) can read the first two sections of Chapter 1 ahead of time. I think you'll find that some of it is review of concepts you've seen before.

I know summer is tough on you guys, but hang in there... you'll be back at school before you know it!
